RMU’s Writing for the Workplace Certificate offers all students the opportunity to improve their writing and to demonstrate this expertise as a credential that will appear on their transcripts. This certificate is NOT designed for those who wish to focus on a career as a writer, but rather for those who wish to improve their writing in support of their career and promotion. Research has shown that across all industries, employers are more likely to hire and/or promote candidates with strong skills in written communication. For example, a study conducted by the National Association of Colleges and Employers in 2019 identified  strong writing abilities as the most highly desired skill for successful employees. 2 This certificate will support students as they strengthen their writing skills and explore topics and issues relevant to their personal and career interests.
