What is a Planned Gift?
A planned gift is one that is given from accumulated assets. It is larger in size than regular annual gifts, it reflects a deep interest in the growth of RMU and its students, and it can compliment other forms of giving.
Why Make a Planned Gift?
There are many reasons to consider a planned gift. For one, you can make a significant impact on RMU. You can also increase your income while potentially reducing taxes, both current and long term. Planned giving also enables you to provide gifts for beneficiaries.
Why Do People Give?
Members of the RMU family have a deep connection to the university. Some choose to give because they were helped financially as a student. For others, RMU has changed their life in some profound way. Many connect with the university’s mission and wish to enable more students to receive the type of quality education we provide. Other reasons may include an interest in charitable deduction or other estate planning benefits.
It is understood that special gifts or circumstances might require a case-by-case review and might not be addressed by the information listed above. Neither the university nor the Office of Institutional Advancement shall provide any legal, tax, investment or other advice to the donor, which is reserved to the donor's advisors.
