Our faculty members bring real-world experience to the classroom, and the state-of-the-art facilities in the brand-new School of Business building give you hands-on experience in a corporate setting. As a result, you hit the ground running, primed with the confidence and knowledge you need to land a good job and succeed in this competitive career field.

Studies lead to the Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (B.S.B.A.) degree with a concentration in accounting.

Upon completion of this program, you will be able to:

  • Understand the fundamentals of financial reporting, and analyze and use financial information when making business decisions.
  • Utilize information technology to make business decisions.
  • Understand and apply ethical principles and social responsibility in business interactions.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally.
  • Work in a complex, dynamic business environment.

The accounting program will prepare you for a successful career in one of the many areas of this dynamic field, including auditing, taxation, managerial or cost, and government. It will also prepare you for professional certification as a Certified Public Accountant or Certified Management Accountant and for graduate study in accounting, law, and management.

The Robert Morris University School of Business Complex is a high-tech learning laboratory that provides business students the same kind of hands-on educational environment that engineering and science students take for granted. The 18,000 square-foot facility is the first LEED-certified building on RMU's campus, and it includes state-of-the-art business technology including a simulated trading floor and a Bloomberg lab to give students access to real-time financial data, and an immersive videoconferencing experience that will allow students, faculty, and corporate leaders to communicate with colleagues around the world.

RMU’s business faculty is a diverse group with corporate and global business experience, bringing the advantage of real-world knowledge directly into the classroom. Many hold professional certifications in their discipline, and they guide our students in pursuing professional certifications.

Our faculty members are actively involved with the business community and professional organizations, providing endless educational and networking opportunities for our students, both in and outside of classroom. They also conduct applied research projects on emerging business topics involving our students. They take pride in getting to know their students from day one and in being part of their career path after graduation. 

Scholarships are available based upon academic achievement. 

For freshmen, high school grade point average and ACT/SAT scores are used. For transfer students, the cumulative grade point average of all college courses is used. Scholarships range from $1000 per year up to full tuition. (To calculate your scholarship eligibility, click here.)
