Brian Cleary ’98 M’01
B.S., sports communication; M.S., communications and information systems

ClearyAlumOfMonth Work: Brian is a senior systems engineer at Thermo Fisher Scientific in Robinson Township, overseeing messaging and global e-mail as well as the system that employees use to access their data. He also is the radio color analyst on WPIT-AM 730 for RMU football home games.

Home:
Robinson Township, with wife Nikki and daughter Abigail.

Proudest Achievement: “My family. I have a very supporting wife who is very understanding of my rigorous job hours and a beautiful daughter who loves to go to RMU sports events.”

Best RMU Experience:
“There’s a lot, but I’d have to say the first game in 1994. We beat Waynesburg College as the visitors. We went 7-1-1 that year — not bad for a bunch of freshmen and junior college transfers." Brian was recruited as a quarterback, then was moved to the offensive line. Although at 215 pounds he was outweighed by opposing defensive ends and even some linebackers, Brian had a standout college career and is in the RMU Hall of Fame.

Last RMU Event Attended: “The first round women’s basketball home game against St. Francis. My daughter loves the women’s basketball team and we try to make all the home games.”

Why He Stays Connected: “As I get older and take a step back, I realize how much everyone involved with the school has helped so much during my stay at Robert Morris. The school gave me a lot of opportunities, and this my way of giving back.”
