Outreach Mission
The outreach center will work closely with RMU faculty to provide effective, standards-based outreach opportunities that will engage, educate, and elevate STEM education for regional students, teachers, and professionals. The development of beneficial partnerships, granting opportunities, and recruiting of new students into SEMS programs will also be a priority for this center.

More than 180 Girls in grades 7-9 and 10-11 attended 3 workshops of their choice. Workshops included hands-on learning activities in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). These workshops allowed students to learn about future degrees and careers in STEM. Workshop presenters included, Assemble, RMU, Carnegie Mellon University, Carnegie Science Center, Pittsburgh Zoo, Society of Women Engineers and more.

Middle school girls toured our Engineering labs and learned about the disciplines and careers related to Engineering.
Alternative Energy Workshop: June 20, 2012.
During this one-day workshop, high school students were introduced to a variety of different sources of enery. Students also has the opportunity to build a simple generator, wind turbine and a solar conentrator and test for efficiency.
Zoob Elementary School Workshop: May 12, 2012.
During this workshop, 23 students in grades 1-5 learned the basic concepts of engineering through building with Zoobs. All students received a 500 piece Zoob set.
