Blitzer to Address Class of '18
Monday, January 29, 2018
Wolf Blitzer, lead political anchor for CNN and anchor of "The Situation Room," will deliver the commencement address to the graduating class at Robert Morris University on Sunday, May 6, at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center in downtown Pittsburgh.
Approximately 800 bachelor's and master's degree students will receive their diplomas this spring at the university's 93rd commencement ceremony. RMU also will award Blitzer an honorary doctorate of humane letters at the event, which will begin at 4 p.m.
This year marks the first time in more than 50 years that the university will not hold commencement exercises at its Moon Township campus. The traditional venue for commencement for decades, Sewall Center, was demolished in 2017. The UPMC Events Center, the 4,500-seat arena and meeting facility that will replace it, opens in 2019.
A separate ceremony for 60 doctoral students completing their degrees will take place at 2 p.m. on Thursday, May 3, in the new Student Fitness and Recreation Center on campus. The speaker at that ceremony will be David Hickton, founding director of the University of Pittsburgh Institute for Cyber Law, Policy and Security and former U.S. Attorney.
