-- The latest edition of RMU in the News in now online.

-- Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre is offering the RMU community half-price tickets to see up-close and personal the passion and athleticism of its dancers at Uncommon, onstage at the August Wilson Center this week. RMU students, faculty and staff (with valid RMU ID) can enjoy $25.75 tickets for the performance at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 11. Tickets are regularly $50.75.

-- This Saturday, RMU is hosting the Southwestern Pennsylvania Regional Qualifying FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) Tech Challenge, at which teams of high school students will design, build, and program a robot to complete a sports-related task.This year’s competition, “Bowled Over,” takes place Feb. 11 at the School of Engineering, Mathematics, and Science in the John Jay Center. SEMS is also hosting the RMU Science Bowl on Saturday, March 17, 2012 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Sewall Center. Fifty-two students in grades 9 through 12 will participate.

PERSONAL MENTION

-- Engineering Professor Arif Sirinterlikci, along with students Samantha Pogel and Justin Wissinger, co-authored "Designing and Manufacturing of Medical Devices with Antimicrobial Technology" in Manufacturing Engineering magazine. Pogel and Wissinger are juniors in RMU's National Science Foundation-funded S-STEM Scholars Program.

*WELLNESS TIP* Make small changes in the way you eat to control weight. Use small plates so portions look larger. Wait 10 minutes before snacking; the urge might pass. Chew slowly and pause between mouthfuls. Eat six small meals a day, including breakfast to boost your metabolish.
