RMU Named a Top-10 Online University by SuperScholar

Pittsburgh -- SuperScholar, an online education and career information website, has ranked Robert Morris University #10 on its list of the 25 Best Online Colleges and Universities of 2012.

Currently RMU offers 20 online degree programs and two online certificate programs.

In order to make the list, an institution must be "a regionally accredited college or university, listed in the National Center for Education Statistics database, and offer online degree programs in multiple disciplines." Rankings were based on "perceived market credibility and prestige, academic quality, support for students, and student satisfaction."

Robert Morris also made SuperScholar's list of the Top 25 Smart Choice Schools for Online Healthcare Administration Degrees and the Top 25 Smart Choice Schools for Online Psychology Degrees, which are both based on "publicly available data related to market reputation, academic quality, student satisfaction, and cost."

Back in March SuperScholar selected RMU for its first annual “Smart Choice” ranking of the top 25 schools for online nursing degrees. In order to be selected for the ranking, institutions must be a regionally accredited college or university and offer an online nursing degree program accredited by either the CCNE or NLNAC. (RMU is CCNE-accredited.)

RMU currently offers two online nursing degree programs:

  • The R.N. to M.S.N. program is a convenient, cost-effective program that prepares practicing nurses for the role of a nurse educator in clinical, community, or academic settings.
  • RMU's Master of Science in Nursing (M.S.N.), with a concentration in nursing education, prepares nurses for a career as an educator in health care and academic settings.

Also in March, SuperScholar also ranked Robert Morris University #10 on its first annual Smart Choice ranking of the top colleges and universities for online bachelor’s degrees and named RMU in its first Smart Choice ranking of the top schools for online Computer Science and Information Technology degree programs. The university was awarded with the #23 position for its Competitive Intelligence Systems and Internet Information Systems offerings through its School of Communications and Information Systems.

RMU's online offerings are also being recognized by other prestigious ranking organizations. U.S. News & World Report ( recently named two of the university's programs in its Top Online Graduate Computer Information Technology Programs Ranking. The Master of Science (M.S.) in Competitive Intelligence Systems (Business Intelligence) degree program and the Master of Science (M.S.)  in Internet Information Systems degree program, both started in fall of 2011, were ranked #11 in the Student Services and Technology category and #17 for Student Engagement and Accreditation.
