RMU's Hospitality and Tourism Named a Wise Choice for Students

Robert Morris University's online Hospitality and Tourism program was recognized by as a wise choice for bachelor’s-level students pursuing careers in the tourism industry., a leading resource for prospective students seeking a college or university degree, selected RMU's program based on academic excellence, course offerings, accomplishment of faculty members, return on investment, and reputation. Out of the 25 notable schools recognized, RMU's online program edged Strayer University, and Sullivan University, and UMass Amherst to name a few.

Ranked among the top 12 programs in the nation, the online Hospitality and Tourism program gives students access to 62 faculty members with industry work experience. Graduates of the program benefit from RMU’s 93% placement rate, as well as accreditations by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools, the Middle States Commission of Higher Education (MSCHE), and the Association of Advanced Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) International.

"RMU's program provides a four-year Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (B.S.B.A.) degree for students who wish to pursue a career in the hospitality and tourism industry," says Denis Rudd, university professor and director of hospitality management. "It's also AACSB accredited, which is something only 1% of the hospitality and tourism programs in United States can claim. We're also the only university in the Pittsburgh area to offer a four-year degree program in this field."

Rudd says that the increasing number of new hotels, the expansion of existing hotels and restaurant chains, and the growth of new resorts and tourism facilities create a continual demand for trained professionals in all aspects of the hospitality and tourism industry.

Graduates of the hospitality and tourism program are now employed around the world. Some of the places include: hotels in the Virgin Islands, Canada, Saudi Arabia, Jamaica, Tokyo Japan, Japan, Taiwan, India, Germany, France, Switzerland, England, and Spain; restaurants in Chicago; and resorts in Florida and California, to name a few.
