--Lisa Nutt, associate director of the Center for Global Engagement, traveled to Washington, D.C., recently because RMU was selected to participate in the President’s Interfaith and Community Service Campus Challenge, an initiative inviting institutions of higher education to commit to a year of interfaith and community service programming on campus. Several RMU student organizations will partner with the Coraopolis Community Development Foundation on a service project to address hunger and food insecurity in Coraopolis. Helping to lead the initiative will be the Office for Student Civic Engagement and the Office of Multicultural Student Affairs.

-- Heather Pinson, assistant professor of communication, will host the Jazz/Poetry Concert Saturday, Sept. 10, from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. This free event will feature Oliver Lake and Tarbaby, Sonia Sanchez, Khet Mar, Tommi Parkko, Israel Centeno, Alexandra Petrova, and Hind Shoufani. The event takes place on the North Side on Sampsonia Way between Monterey and Sherman. In case of rain, the concert will move to the New Hazlett Theater.
-- Darlene Motley, associate dean of the School of Business, has been named one of 50 Women of Excellence by the New Pittsburgh Courier. Motley is an associate professor of human resources and director of the master's program in human resource management.
