-- The Staff, SPFPA and ESP annual open enrollment period will be held Monday, April 30, through Friday, May 11. This year everyone who is eligible for benefits must enroll on-line via HRconnection. Watch your email for details! ESP employees will have information sent to your homes.

-- RMU owns the Sewickley arts and culture scene this Friday, April 27: At 5:30 p.m. at the Penguin Bookshop, Sylvia Pamboukian, associate professor of English, will hold a book signing for Doctoring the Novel: Medicine and Quackery from Shelley to Doyle. Just down the street, in the former Chico's space at 419 Beaver St., the Sewickley Arts Initiative will hold the opening reception for  Generations: Six of the Best, an exhibition featuring the photography of a professor and a student from each of six local universities. RMU will be represented by Media Arts Professor Christine Holz, part-time faculty member Lauren S. Zadikow, and junior Noah Purdy. The reception takes place from 6 to 9 p.m. and the exhibition is open Saturday, April 28, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

-- The 2012 Service Recognition Program was held on Monday, April 23, in the Sewall Center Executive Dining Room. This program integrates with the 20 Year Club Program recognizing the talents, dedication, and commitment of our full-time and regular-part time staff employees as well as our full-time faculty members. The Service Recognition celebration honored 88 employees who achieved five or more years of service with the university as of Dec. 31, 2012. Of the 88 employees, special recognition was provided to those achieving 35 years of service this year (Patrick Litzinger and Jim Vincent) and those achieving 40 years of service this year (William Beaver, Gregory Leone and John Turchek). The university is proud to recognize the contributions, talents and service of our employees with this celebration. See photos of the event here.

--The RMU-produced video Israel: A Deeper Meaning was honored with an award last week at the 43rd Annual Media Communications Association International (MCA-I) Media Festival in Las Vegas. Receiving a Silver Reel for External Communications for the film were Michael A. DiLauro, director of the Academic Media Center and associate professor, media arts and Raymond Zaparoni, videographer for the Academic Media Center. The video documents the experience of RMU students while they studied and traveled throughout Israel. The experience was coordinated through the Center for Global Engagement. DiLauro served as producer/director and Zaparoni was the director of photography.
-- On Monday the university tested the RMU Alert system. If you did not get the alert to your cell phone or other alternate phone and email, please take a moment to update or verify your registration information by logging into Sentry with your RMU user name and password at  www.rmu.edu/rmualert.  If you have not yet logged into the new RMU Alert system, you can do so (after logging into Sentry) by using the last 10 digits of your Freedom Card number in the password field. If you forgot your password simply click "forgot password" and a new one will be sent to you via text message or email. If you have any questions or problems, please contact the RMU Help Desk.

2 "Verbatim" Jump Drives tied together on a black neck strap. One is green plastic with "RMU" written in it, the other is red plastic. The drive(s) might have been left in a USB port of a PC in Hale 304, Hale 207, Franklin 202, or the Part-time Faculty Office (Hale 305). If found please contact John Silbert ASAP. *WELLNESS TIP* Track your intensity during workouts. You should be able to talk , but not sing, during exercise. You can also take your pulse. Count the number of beats for 10 seconds and multiply by six to get your heart rate. Talk with your doctor about the best heart rate range for you.
