-- The RMU chapter of Psi Chi, an international honor society in psychology, is hosting Psych In A Box for high school juniors and seniors, Friday, March 8, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Sewall Center. Psych In A Box is a hands-on event to explore six major fields of psychology and poses questions during the demonstrations such as: Can your sense of taste be fooled? How well can you actually multi-task? How much can you count on your teammates? What does “abnormal” really mean?

-- The Department of Computer and Information Systems, IBM, and Cengage Learning are co-sponsoring the first annual conference titled "Computing in 2013: What's New?" The conference will be held on March 19 in the Sewall Center.  Area business and math teachers, along with guidance counselors are invited to attend. The sessions include Cyber Forensics, Teaching with Mobile Technologies (Cloud Computing), Women in Computing, and Behind the Cloud: IBM's Mastering the Mainframe Contest and Preparing Students for Careers in the Computer Field.


-- Jay Carson, university professor of English, has been a bit busy these last few months. Over the summer he published a chapbook, Irish Coffee, and a larger book of poetry right before Christmas titled The Cinnamon of Desire. He also co-edited a book of Margaret Menamin's poetry, The Snow Falls Up, last spring.

*Guest speaker Juergen Rekus, Professor of Pedagogy at the University of Karlsruhe, Germany, "The non-empirical foundations of teaching,"  Sewall International Suite, Tuesday, April 2, noon.  Lunch will be served, RSVP requested.

The RMU Roundtable is sponsored by the University Honors Program, and is an occasional forum in which faculty can present on their research and topics of interest in an informal setting to honors students, faculty and staff.  The theme for this semester's Roundtables is "Global Voices."

MARCH MADNESS @ RMU!...The Robert Morris men's basketball team has won the regular season Northeast Conference championship and will host each of its NEC tournament games as long as the Colonials advance.  The first game is Wednesday night, March 6 at 7 pm in Sewall Center. The defending College Hockey America champion Colonial women's hockey team will host a first-round best-of-3 CHA opening-round tournament series this Friday-Sunday (March 1-3) at the Island Sports Center. Three Colonial seniors are on the fan ballot for college hockey's top individual honor -- the 2013 Hobey Baker Memorial Award -- which will be given out right here in Pittsburgh on Friday, April 12 during Frozen Four week festivities. They are forward Adam Brace, goaltender Eric Levine and forward Zach Hervato. Phase I fan voting is going on right now until March 10. Visit to vote.

Men's hockey captain Brendan Jamison is one of 10 national finalists for the 2012-13 Senior CLASS Award for community outreach and academic achievement. Please cast your vote before March 25 at The winner will be announced during the 2013 NCAA Men's Frozen Four here in Pittsburgh April 11-13.

Join Robert Morris Head Men's Basketball Coach Andy Toole at the West Mifflin Buffalo Wild Wings at 7 pm. Monday, March 4. The live radio show broadcasts on 970 AM ESPN and iHeartRadio each Monday during the the college basketball season from a different area Buffalo Wild Wings, and it features drinks, wings, giveaways and Colonials fun.
