Visiting Documentary Filmmaker (Part-Time Faculty Member)
The Media Arts Department at Robert Morris University in Pittsburgh, PA, is
currently seeking candidates for a 15-week residency in documentary filmmaking.
The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching one production class
and be an active member of the university community, including participating in
activities such as screenings, lectures, and engagement with students.
While in residence, the visiting filmmaker is expected to develop his/her own
documentary project(s) and will have full support from the Media Arts Department
and Academic Media Center while pursuing this goal. Support includes access to
production and post-production equipment, administrative staff, student
assistance, screening facilities, and access to our fully equipped TV production
studio.
The successful candidate will be housed in the newly built Snee-Reinhart House
for the Media Arts. This three-story facility includes a spacious studio
apartment on the upper level, a multipurpose work area on the main floor, and a
state-of-the-art 20-seat screening facility on the lower level.
Meals and transportation are the responsibility of the candidate.
Compensation:
The successful candidate will receive a stipend payment for his/her services.
This is a part-time non-benefitted position.
Robert Morris University is located in the suburbs of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania,

and one of the USA's most affordable and livable places. Pittsburgh has a
vibrant arts and film community, in part due to the existence of organizations
like Pittsburgh Filmmakers, which is the oldest Media Arts Center in the country
and operates three major independent movie houses that feature indie/art/foreign
films on a regular basis. In addition, Pittsburgh is home to the Carnegie Museum
of Art, the Andy Warhol Museum, The Mattress Factory, The Pittsburgh Glass
Center, The Wood Street Gallery, and many small art galleries throughout its
diverse neighborhoods.
