Office Assistant

The Human Resources Department announces the position of Office Assistant reporting to the Director, Counseling Center.

Responsibilities include: The Environmental Services Technician performs manual work in the custodial care of the University buildings and facilities, including Residence Halls. Work involves performing varied indoor/outdoor cleaning tasks in an assigned building or building area using scrubbing and buffing machines, operating sweepers and steam cleaning machines; work also involves removing trash, washing walls, vents, screens, windows, glass doors and furniture; cleaning restrooms and replenishing supplies; cleaning drinking fountains; removing snow; lifting and moving furniture and equipment; maintaining an acceptable attendance record, punctuality and meeting deadlines; participating in training sessions and seminars; maintaining a functional awareness of typical hazards of the workplace; following established procedures for dealing with potential hazards, promptly reporting all accidents/injuries to supervisor; and performing related work as required.

Requirements:

  • High School Degree/diploma required; Associate's Degree preferred.

  • 3-5 years of previous office experience required, preferably in a health services office and/or higher education setting.

  • Strong understanding and commitment to confidentiality.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively handling multiple priorities; professionalism and good customer relations skills; student focused.

  • Comfort in interacting with students in various states of distress.

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages; willingness to develop computer skills, adjust to other updated technology and grow professionally as required.

  • Detail oriented with strong organizational and communication skills; ability to multi-task.

  • Excellent grammar, spelling and typing skills; ability to learn new programming and database concepts quickly.
