Librarian (Part-Time)
The Human Resources Department announces the position of
Part-Time Reference Librarian reporting to the Head, Public Services Department.
The
Part-Time Reference Librarian provides reference services to patrons during
times that assistance is needed in order to provide full coverage of
the reference desk and assumes responsibility for the library at times when no
full-time librarians are scheduled. Responsibilities include:
providing reference and research assistance to library patrons; opening/closing
the library as scheduled in evenings and on weekends; supervising media,
circulation and student assistants at other service desks when no
full-time librarians are scheduled; performing bibliographic instruction
sessions as scheduled; contacting the Help Desk to report problems with
accessing the library's electronic databases and assists in resolving problems;
assisting media services as necessary; filing loose leaf library services and
maintaining the information file as assigned; preparing bibliographies,
pathfinders, and reports; and performing related work as required.
Minimum Qualifications:

MLS from an ALA accredited program required.

Good interpersonal skills.

Familiarity with electronic databases.

Ability to work a flexible schedule including days, evenings, weekdays
and weekends - typically between 10-15 hours per week throughout the
calendar year.
This position is part-time and not eligible for the
University's benefit programs.
