PHIL1030 - Logic

Fall 2011

This course enables students to recognize, understand, and apply the principles of verifiable and valid thinking. An analysis is made of language and the reasoning process, specifically rules of definition and avoidance of fallacies. Special emphasis is placed upon deductive inferences, both in traditional and symbolic language, as well as on inductive inferences, through analogies, scientific inquiries, and the laws of probability. The course also enhances students' abilities to articulate their responses through oral presentations and essays.
