This class is a study abroad opportunity to Northern and Southern Ireland. Although the actual trip to Ireland will take place from May 8 to May 22, 2016, we will meet as a group each Tuesday from 11:45 am-1:35 pm starting in the 2nd 8 weeks. Students are encouraged to contact the teacher with scheduling concerns and contact the Office of Global Engagement with travel arrangements. This class will examine music's active role in the construction of Irish social life and organization in modern Irish culture. The student will gain the tools necessary to evaluate music and will then be able to apply these tools, including a critical approach, to other musical areas and subjects outside of this course.
