ENVS1310 - Environ Planning/Remediation

Spring 2015

This course will focus on environmental planning and land use related to energy operations, which typically include exploration, production, and transmission for oil and gas. Proper planning of energy operations is the most important element to minimizing the risk of impacts to human health and the environment. Environmental permitting is an essential and required process related to planning energy operations. Impacts to human health and the environment may occur as a result of energy operations, in spite of the best planning efforts and having all required permits. Helping the student enrolled in this course understand the responsibilities of the energy companies when adverse impacts occur, including required remediation, proper waste disposal, and site reclamation to name a few -- essentially the impacts of oil and gas development, will be a key objective of this course.
