SPMG3415 - Busn/Econ Of Professnl Sports

Spring 2015

This course provides students with a framework to analyze professional sports. The course focuses on economic analysis of professional sports--baseball, football, basketball, and hockey. Economic theory is employed to explain and evaluate such areas as industry growth and change, labor market activity, antitrust concerns, and the role of local government in franchise movement. Other topics focus on sport finance related to venue funding and revenue generation as well asthe history and current status of the collective bargaining process
Prerequisites: ECON1010 or ECON1020 or ECON1030 and 60 credits
