CHEM3500 - Environmental Chemistry
Fall 2015
This course provides students with an introduction to the chemical basis of environmental issues and the environmental consequences of modern technology with as emphasis on water, air, and soil pollution and chemistry. Areas covered are atmospheric pollution, cycling of chemicals in the environment and their status within the ecosystem, pollution and toxicology of trace and heavy metal and pesticides, ozone depletion, forest management, the greenhouse effect and the effect of man-made input, and environmental analytical techniques.
Prerequisites: CHEM1210 and CHEM1215 or permission of the department head Co-requisite: CHEM3550
