NURS8120 - Health Promotion/Clinical Prev

This course will provide the student the opportunity to utilize previous learned knowledge in the application of preventive health concepts and health promotion principles across the life span to specific populations. Healthy People 2010 and U.S. Preventive Services Task Force guidelines that should be offered to patients as part of ongoing personal health care will be the evidence-based practice emphasized. Students will be introduced to physiological and psychological preventive health principles as well as lifestyle behavior modification. Specific content will include counseling about personal health behaviors, screening test for early detection of risk factors and disease, immunizations, and chemoprophylactic regimens offered to patients before they develop clinical evidence of disease.
Prerequisite: NURS8010
