Classroom experiences are augmented by opportunities to participate in internship programs and to study abroad through one of several international programs. The management faculty encourages students to pursue industry-specific and career-specific work through supervised independent study projects. Graduates of the program pursue professional positions in both the public and private sectors. While some students secure positions with major corporations and businesses, many choose to work in small business and entrepreneurial settings.
Management students are strongly encouraged to participate in at least one internship experience. Internships provide students with valuable work experience and lead to assistance in career planning, employer references and full-time job opportunities. Students are eligible for internships after the completion of 75 credits and may participate in more than one experience.
Internship Employers:
Allegheny County, America's Promise, American Humanics, Bayer, Cintas, ESPN Radio, Genesis Settlement, Guardian Protection Services, Hampton Inn, March of Dimes, Mercy Hospital, Rentokill, Sewickley Academy, Shepherd's Heart, Three Rivers Optical, Transtar, Verizon.
Student Organizations:
A variety of activities and organizations are available to management students. Students may participate in the Society for the Advancement of Management (SAM), which guides students toward careers in management. The chapter travels to the SAM national conference to participate in the annual student case competition.
The Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) provides valuable networking opportunities as well as guidance for certification exams for those interested in a career in human resource management. Students attend the SHRM national conference to attend workshops and participate in a student case competition.
The RMU chapter of American Humanics allows students to explore careers in nonprofit management while providing service opportunities in the local community. Students attend the annual American Humanics Management Institute to learn from and network with nonprofit leaders.
RMU also sponsors chapters of Alpha Chi and Sigma Beta Delta, two national honor societies.

Because of their active interest in their students, management faculty members are frequently cited for their roles as outstanding student mentors.
Scholarships are available based upon academic achievement.
For freshmen, high school grade point average and ACT/SAT scores are used. For transfer students, the cumulative grade point average of all college courses is used. Scholarships range from $1000 per year up to full tuition. (To calculate your scholarship eligibility, click here.)
