RENEE ABRAMS ‘66 was named an “Afterschool Champion” by the Pennsylvania Statewide Afterschool/Youth Development Network for her work with the Pittsburgh Youth Golf Foundation and Renee Abrams & Associates, which has benefited thousands of at-risk youths. Renee lives in Pittsburgh.
ERIC BECK ‘77, global director of strategic marketing for Mine Safety Appliances, was elected to the board of the International Safety Equipment Association; he is chairman of ISEA’s standards, planning, and policy committee and secretary of the National Fire Protection Association’s projecton protective clothing and equipment. Eric resides in Valencia.
RICHARD HARSHMAN ‘78, chairman, president, and CEO of Allegheny Technologies Inc., was named to the board of directors of Ameren, a St. Louis utility company. Rich also serves on the RMU Board of Trustees.
KENNETH JOHNSTON ‘78, senior vice president and chief operations officer of Peoples Natural Gas, was named to the board of directors of Goodwill of Southwestern Pennsylvania.
DAVID O’BRIEN M’80 is on the board of regents of John Carroll University in suburban Cleveland. David retired last year from Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield in Pittsburgh, where he was executive vice president overseeing government relations.
NOREEN O’MARA PARKER ‘81 joined the Sinclair Broadcast Group as general manager of WTTA-TV in Tampa. She was formerly corporate director of news and digital media sales for Bright House Networks.
DAVID G. HAMMER ‘83 is southwestern Pennsylvania market executive for FirstNiagara, responsible for managing sales activity across multiple business segments, including commercial and business banking, retail, insurance, wealth management, and commercial real estate.
PETER BROWN ‘84 M’99 M’08 retired as a lieutenant colonel after 31 years serving in the Army Reserve, including tours in Iraq and Afghanistan. He was awarded the Combat Action Badge, Bronze Star Medal, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, and multiple Army Meritorious Service Medals. Pete is a computer systems programmer and software engineer at Bank of New York Mellon. He lives in Pittsburgh.
SCOTT KOVALOSKI ‘85 was elected secretary of the Pittsburgh Business Group on Health board of directors. He is manager of health and welfare benefits consulting at Alcoa and lives in Wexford.
MARK MCCLOUD ‘87 was inducted into the Alle-Kiski Valley Sports Hall of Fame for basketball. Mark was an outstanding guard at Robert Morris, the team leader in steals three years in a row, and a member of the team that played in the 1983 NCAA Tournament. The McCloud family resides in Adams Township.
CHERYL TALERICO ‘87 was promoted to director of marketing at Sisterson and Co. in Pittsburgh. She has been with the company since 2006.
KATHLEEN ONUSKA ‘88 joined Cottrill, Arbutina & Associates in Beaver as an auditor and accounting consultant in the contract services group. She previously was controller and project coordinator for Louis D. Pappan Holdings in Beaver Falls. Renee lives in Pittsburgh.
JOYCE BELLI ‘89 was honored in April as a quarterly winner in Pittsburgh International Airport’s N.I.C.E. customer service program. Joyce is an agent for Southwest Airlines and has worked in the field for more than 20 years. She resides in Toronto, Ohio.

MIKE BRUNO ‘90 ran the Pittsburgh Marathon in May blindfolded to raise awareness about vision impairment; his daughter Cassie, 7, was born with retinopathy of prematurity. Mike is Point Park University’s volleyball coach. The Bruno family lives in Cecil.

THEODORE ZOBB ‘96 received Waynesburg University’s 2013 Lucas-Hathaway Teaching Excellence Award for part-time faculty members. Ted is an M.B.A. lecturer for the university’s graduate and professional studies program and senior vice president with DQE Communications.

KEVIN BAZNER ‘06 M ’08 was named to the 2012 class of “20 Under 40” in Wichita Falls, Texas, recognizing him as an up-and-coming community leader. Kevin is active in Leadership Wichita Falls and Downtown Wichita Falls Development and is a board member of the Humane Society of Wichita County. He is assistant director of student development and orientation at Midwestern State University.

Daren is an outreach coordinator for Court Appointed Special Advocates of Allegheny County, handling community outreach, public relations, and volunteer recruitment.
JIM FOWLER M’07 was named Young Professional of the Year by the Greater Rostraver Chamber of Commerce. Jim is the owner of Fowler Lawn Care Service and McShane’s Florist and Greenhouse. He lives in Belle Vernon.

ROBIN R. SANDERS D’10 is a Woodrow Wilson Visiting Fellow with the Council of Independent Colleges. She is the international affairs advisor and communication and outreach director to Africare, the owner of FE3DS LLC, and chairwoman of Songhai Integrative Farms Systems, an African organization focusing on food security, agriculture, sustainable environment, energy, economics, youth education, and entrepreneurship. Robin is a member of the RMU Board of Trustees.

NEIL SHAFFER ‘11 joined the Kitsap Pumas, a developmental league soccer team in Bremerton, Wash., after playing for the Pittsburgh Riverhounds. Neil was a four-year starter for the Colonials men’s soccer team.
