Undergraduate Post-Matriculation Transfer Policy

Students enrolled in a degree program at Robert Morris University are expected to complete their academic credits at RMU or with partner institutions with established agreements with RMU. The Pittsburgh Council of Higher Education (PCHE) and the Online Consortium of Independent Colleges and Universities (OCICU) are examples of such partner institutions that offer enrollment opportunities in traditional and online courses, respectively. Courses provided by these partner institutions are considered RMU courses, not transfer courses, and are transcripted with the letter grade earned in the course. Also, students enrolled in these partner institutions pay RMU tuition rates for credits enrolled.

Exceptions may be granted to take coursework at other institutions only under the following circumstances:

  1. The course is not offered at RMU either during the proposed semester or the next scheduled semester and no other RMU course offered is applicable to the student's academic program. If RMU or its partners offer a course that applies to the student's course of study, exceptions will not be granted.
  2. Academic Services has certified that the student is in good standing, maintaining a 2.0 or higher cumulative grade point average.
  3. The student's academic department head approves of the proposed course as meeting the above conditions and academic program requirements.

Students should also note that a course that earned a final grade at RMU may not be repeated at another institution for RMU credit. A "C" grade or higher must be earned for any course taken at another institution for transfer credit to apply to their RMU academic program.

In addition, grades earned in off-campus transferred courses do not apply to the student's grade point average and letter grades do not appear on the student's academic transcript. Such courses will be coded as "T" (transferred course credit) on their RMU transcripts.

Finally, credits must comply with the overall transfer credit limit as stated in the Undergraduate Transfer Policy and Undergraduate Residency Requirements Policy.
