  Department of Accounting & Taxation

Lois D. Bryan, D.Sc., C.P.A.

I was an undergraduate student majoring in biology when I decided to take an accounting course for fun.  After only a few weeks, I knew I was hooked.  I loved the order and logic of accounting.  It made sense to me.  I changed my major and have never regretted the decision.

After graduating, I took a job as assistant controller and supervisor of the accounting department for a corporation with subsidiaries throughout the United States.  My favorite part of the job was teaching the staff about the accounting aspects of their job.  I had always been interested in teaching and it was that interest that inspired me to continue my education and earn a graduate degree.  One afternoon as I sat in my office, I contacted the department head for Accounting at Robert Morris University.  A week later I interviewed at RMU and was later offered a job.   That was 27 years ago.

I am very proud to be a faculty member in RMU’s newly accredited School of Business.  I’ve been a part of the accreditation process from the very beginning and one of the happiest days in my professional career was when the AACSB team arrived on campus for our visit.  AACSB accreditation is an external acknowledgement of something we at RMU have always known.  We offer quality business programs and we prepare our students for what they will encounter in the business world.  Because of the faculty student interaction, students who may not have been able to survive at another institution flourish at RMU.

With our experience, resources, and talent, we give students the edge that separates them from the competition.  Let us help you reach your dreams!
