  Nuclear Medicine Technology

Second Year Observation 

Year Two Forty-Hour Observation

As an introduction to the hospital environment, each student is required to spend a 40-hour observation period in a nuclear medicine department. The choice of the hospital must be submitted for approval by the Robert Morris University Nuclear Medicine Technology program director or clinical coordinator.

This observation must be completed during the summer between the second and third year. The Year Two Forty-Hour Observation Form of recommended observed procedures must be completed and received by the clinical coordinator at the beginning of the fall semester of the third year. Failure to complete the Year Two Forty-Hour Observation prior to the beginning of the fall semester of the third year will impede the student's further progression in the Nuclear Medicine Technology Program.

Students are required to abide by the following dress code policy while performing their Year Two Forty-Hour Observation:

      Clothing
          o clothing must be clean, odor free and well pressed
          o clothing must reflect a professional appearance
                + males (shirt, tie, khaki pants)
                + females (shirt, long pants, knee length skirt or dress)

      Shoes
          o shoes must be clean and polished
          o all shoes must have an enclosed heel and toe, with low heels only

      Lab Coats
          o clothing must be clean, odor free and well pressed
          o students must always wear lab coats while at the clinical site
          o white lab coats, scrub-type with banding at wrists or mid-thigh style 
             with collar
          o lab coats should be buttoned or snapped while at the clinic site
