In compliance with policies of clinical agencies in which course-related nursing practice is assigned, it is necessary that graduate students complete certain requirements prior to clinical practice. All documentation will be provided to the Nursing Department by established deadlines. No student will be permitted to attend clinical activities without complete information.
The Robert Morris University Department of Nursing Health Evaluation Form will be submitted by all graduate students prior to clinical experiences. The form must be completed in its entirety. All information on the form will be completed and clearance for clinical practice will be confirmed by the healthcare provider with his/her signature. Incomplete forms will be returned to the student for completion by their healthcare provider. Students are responsible for arranging and paying for the required health evaluation. In addition to the initial health clearances the results of PPD testing must be resubmitted annually.
Each student must present documentation of current CPR certification for Healthcare Professionals or the equivalent. Current, original copies of the child abuse clearance and criminal record check (Act 33/34 Clearances) must be provided to the RMU Nursing Department. Students must also maintain current licensure as a professional nurse (RN) in the state of Pennsylvania or state in which the practicum will occur. Finally, agency requirements must be met by the student and may necessitate additional information. It is the responsibility of the student to meet requirements and provide information by the due dates.
Documentation of personal health insurance must be provided through the RMU website. Failure to complete this documentation may result in the automatic assessment of fees for health care coverage provided through the university.
