Our fourth day will take us to Florence, the capital of Tuscany. The birthplace of the Italian Renaissance, Florence at one time was considered the most important city in Europe.
Mid-morning we'll transfer by private bus from our hotel in Forte dei Marmi to the Plaza Hotel Lucchesi in Florence. Once you're settled in, you'll be free to enjoy lunch on your own in one of the many fine restaurants in the area.
After lunch we'll reconvene for a four-hour guided tour of Florence, including a visit to the legendary Accademia gallery, where you'll have the opportunity to see Michelangelo's “David” and many other notable works of art.
We will finish our day dining in fine style together.
Included meals: breakfast, dinner
Overnight accommodations: Plaza Hotel Lucchesi (website) Lungarno della Zecca Vecchia, 38 | Florence
THE BUZZ ON RMU ALUMNI TOURS
"The annual alumni trip is a worthwhile tradition. It is fun and educational, and there is always one unique event planned that has an element of surprise and is something that the average citizen would not get to experience, like having tea with the American ambassador to Ireland and his wife, or a private tour of Normandy with an actual member of the French Resistance. It's a truly amazing experience."
