-- Carolina Loyola-Garcia, an associate professor of media arts, has received a $20,000 Arts in Media Grant Award from the National Endowment for the Arts to complete her documentary on the history of flamenco arts in the United States. The film, Inheritors of a Burden
, will explore the tradition of flamenco arts in the United States through Jose Greco's legendary figure, while addressing the contemporary artists that carry on and continue to develop this art form in our country.
-- Sushma Mishra, assistant professor of computer and information systems, was invited for a research presentation by the School of Management at the University at Buffalo, which took place July 23. Mishra's presentation was titled “Security and Privacy issues with Electronic Medical Records: Future Research Directions."
-- Anthony Moretti, associate professor of communication, will travel to the Republican National Convention in Tampa and the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte as the faculty leader for The Washington Center's
Leadership in Communication program, a seminar in which college students examine first-hand the media and political process. Moretti recently joined the RMU faculty, and he will be teaching journalism classes.
