Briana T. Smith majored in professional communications and information systems and was one of the first Pittsburgh Promise students to complete a four-year degree. She’s also an RMU legacy: Her father, Alvin Smith, graduated in 1986.
Before Briana graduated she had already has been offered a job with PNC Financial Services as a business analyst. PNC knows exactly what it is getting in Briana, who interned with the company the previous two summers. In addition to her numerous volunteer activities, she was active on campus with the Black Student Union, Zeta Phi Beta sorority, and the Pittsburgh Promise cohort.
She was also the recipient of RMU's 2011 Rising Star Award, given to a graduating senior who demonstrates academic success, individuality, determination, passion, and potential in his/her field of study.
"Before Robert Morris, surprisingly, I wasn’t outgoing," she says. "I’d just linger in the background and didn’t want the spotlight on me. Here, I realized all that I could do. The opportunities are endless."
