  • Ersem Karadag along with hospitality and tourism management students Alisha Martz, Ashley Jamison, Kailey Haldon, and Meicah Antoine-Bertrand attended The Hotel Experience marketplace and conference at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York City on November 10-12, 2018.
  • The Vira I. Heinz (VIH) Program for Women in Global Leadership and the Center for Global Engagement have announced RMU's scholarship awardees for the 2019 VIH Cohort. Recipients include:
    • Sara Chernicky, biomedical engineering, Class of 2020
      Hopes to study medical research in Chile
    • Mia Krolczyk, industrial engineering, Class of 2021
      Hopes to study sustainability in Iceland
    • Jessica Sales, industrial engineering, Class of 2021
      Hopes to study sustainability in Costa Rica 

Personal Mention

  • Paul Spradley, director of the Center for Student Success, was a speaker at EAB's 2018 ConnectED Summit. Spradley spoke about how Robert Morris has been using Colonial Guide to assist students on their path to graduation. "Several of us were there in person to see and hear Paul's story. He did an amazing job and truly captured RMU's 'big enough to matter, small enough to care' motto.   • Retired university professor emerita, Valerie Powell, has recently published the 2nd edition of her book, 
    Integration of Medical and Dental Care and Patient Data.

Events

  • Tomorrow, Dec. 1 the university is holding the "Make Your Mark 5K" in memory of late RMU professor of economics Mark Eschenfelder. Eschenfelder taught thousands of students during his 34 years of service at Robert Morris. The 5K registration opens at 9 a.m. and the race begins at 11, departing from the Nicholson Lawn. All proceeds benefit the Mark Eschenfelder Memorial Fund.
  • The Media Arts Department presents the outstanding work of graduating seniors at the 2018 Fall Senior Showcase. Join us at the opening reception on Tuesday, December 4 from 4:30 - 7 p.m. in the Wheatley Center Gallery. Refreshments will be served as we view the best work from digital cinema and television, graphic design, interaction design and photography. The exhibition runs from Dec. 4 to Dec. 21 during normal gallery hours.
  • On December 11 the Office of Residence Life will host their annual Almost Midnight Breakfast from 10 p.m. to midnight. Volunteers from departments across campus are needed to help serve food, monitor attendance, and mingle with our students. Res Life also asks that if your department has any giveaways cluttering your closets and you'd like to donate them to this event, please contact Jan Leopold at x5236 or leopold@rmu.edu
