  • Last week RMU hosted the first session of the annual Spring Veterans Golf Program. Staff at the RMU Island Sports Center assisted veterans interested in learning to play golf. Twenty-three veterans from all five branches of the military participated. The golfers were in conflicts ranging from Korea, Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan, and even a 97-year-old member who fought in WWII. 
  • Several RMU Sentry Media entries are finalists in the Press Club of Western Pennsylvania's Golden Quill awards. Student nominees were Megan Shandel, Gage Goulding, Katey Ladika, Logan Carney, Samuel Anthony. Michael Sciulli, Matt Simkovic, and Michael Evans.

Upcoming Events

  • Tonight only -- Friday, May 3 -- the Department of Media Arts hosts RAW Talent, a group photography exhibition. See work from the advanced digital photography class from 6-8 p.m. in the SCIS Atrium.
  • All are invited to an open house for the UPMC Events Center from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, May 4. Come check out the new home of the Colonials men's and women's basketball teams and women's volleyball teams, as well as the Pittsburgh region's newest concert and conference venue. RMU will celebrate the 94th commencement in the building May 10-11, and the first concert, featuring Evanescence, takes place on Sunday, May 12. Check out this complete list of upcoming events at the UPMC Events Center.
  • The Center for Veteran's and Military Families invites you to the following ROTC events on Friday, May 10 in the Yorktown Hall:
    • 9 a.m. - Retirement of Major Anderson
    • 10 a.m. - United States Army Commission Ceremony

    Seven RMU students are Commissioning as 2nd Lieutenants in the U.S. Army, including, Daniel Delpha, Ciera Thompson, Jacob Weiland, Wesley St. Cyr, Abagail Santora, and Caleb Magowan.
