The B.A. in Sociology gives students a firm grounding in the discipline and prepares them for graduate programs and careers in sociology and related fields. Students can specialize in a wide range of topics. The curriculum includes sociological theory, women in society, marriage and families, criminology, sport, and deviant behavior. Students learn to design and conduct research in these areas.
Graduates go on to careers in agencies and organizations working in the fields of healthcare, criminal justice, social services, and aging. Jobs include admissions counselor, community organizer, social service manager, research assistant, and substance abuse counselor.
