History

Past Presidents of Robert Morris

Who was the first president of Robert Morris? If you answered Charles L. Sewall, you are technically right. J.R. McCartan began the transition from a school of profit (The Robert Morris School) to a non profit institution of higher education, Robert Morris Junior College. Once the transition was complete, McCartan was no longer allowed to be president; therefore, Charles L. Sewall became the first president of Robert Morris Junior College. Still, many consider Edward A. Nicholson to be the first president of Robert Morris University, since he initiated and oversaw the transition to University status.
