Supporting Athletics at RMU

As the only institution in the Pittsburgh region to have men’s and women’s Division I ice hockey teams and Division I men’s lacrosse teams, RMU’s 16 NCAA Division I intercollegiate athletic success has a lot to do with the support of our donors. That's why we want you to join The 1921 Club today.

The Colonials are consistently recognized for numerous accomplishments from sport to sport. Men’s soccer star Neco Brett  received the NEC Player of the Year in the 2015-16 academic year. As the first student-athlete to receive the award three consecutive years in a row, Brett has made NEC history. Moreover, Zac Lynch of the men’s ice hockey team was recognized as the 2016 Atlantic Hockey Player of the Year, and he is well on his way to becoming RMU men’s ice hockey all-time leading scorer. RMU women’s lacrosse midfielder Jessica Karwacki has been named MVP of the 2016 Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association North/South Division I All-Star game, and was chosen to try out for the 2017 U.S Women’s National Team.

RMU's winning ways spread farther than the courts, fields, and rinks. In the 2015-16 academic year three student-athletes were named NEC Scholar-Athlete of the Year in their respective sport. For football, Nick Faraci was honored two years in row, while Anna Niki Stamolamprou received the recognition for women’s basketball, and  April Krivoniak made a first in NEC history by earning the award in two different sports – volleyball and women’s indoor track & field. In 2015, Krivoniak was honored for volleyball, and in 2016 she was recognized for indoor track & field.

At Robert Morris, our athletes pride themselves on achievements. RMU’s volleyball and women’s basketball have earned automatic spots on the NCAA Tournament brackets for the third consecutive year. The Colonials as a whole have claimed 43 conference regular-season championships and 44 league tournament titles over the last 40 years.

None of this happens by accident. That’s where The 1921 Club comes in. The 1921 Club is RMU's official athletics booster club, dedicated to supporting our athletes both in the classroom and as they represent the university through athletic competition.
