  • The annual College Media Association fall convention held in Louisville presented four awards to RMU students. In addition to RMU Sentry Media editors Sam Anthony and Michael Sciulli presenting a session called "Sports Section Moneyball: Efficiently using all of your resources," our students walked away with:

    • Pinnacle Award
      • Best Online Sports Section, third place
    • 2017-18 Film Festival
      • News Video: Wendy's Horse, second place
      • Newscast: District 18 Special Election Coverage, third place
      • Feature Video: Wendy's Horse, honorable mention
  • The United Way campaign is officially underway. Donate online or learn more about the upcoming events and weekly opportunities for employees, including receiving tickets for a chance to win a signed Sidney Crosby hockey glove and many basket raffles on November 15 at our Thank You Reception, by visiting rmu.edu/unitedway.
  •  The UPMC MyHealth@School at RMU recently received NCQA recognition as a "Patient-Centered Connected Care" facility, one of only four worksite centers in PA to hold that distinction. NCQA’s Patient-Centered Connected CareTM Recognition program supports clinical integration and communication, creating a roadmap for how sites delivering intermittent or outpatient treatment—but do not act as the primary care provider for a majority of its patients—can effectively communicate and connect with primary care and fit into the medical home "neighborhood."

EDITOR'S NOTE -- Several people have asked how they can honor the 11 victims of the Tree of Life shooting last week and help the community recover. We suggest three organizations, though many are worthy:

  • The United Way has set up the "Our Victims of Terror Fund." You can give through RMU here.
  • The family of 1959 Robert Morris graduate Melvin Wax, who was among the victims, requested contributions go to New Light Congregation.
  • The Jewish Federation of Greater Pittsburgh has created the "Victims of Terror Fund," and RMU Athletics will be collecting donations to that fund at this weekend's men's ice hockey games.

Personal Mention

  • Ann Jabro, university professor of communication, presented "Leadership, Group Processes and Conflict Resolution in Event Planning," at the International Meetings, Exhibitions and Events Conference in Las Vegas. She chaperoned two public relations students, Brittany Claybaugh and Jocelyn Burns, who were recipients of the Provost's Scholarships to attend the Future Leaders Forum at IMEX.
