Career Center: Faculty And Staff
Career Readiness is a foundation of core competencies to prepare our students for success in the workplace and lifelong career management. At RMU’s Career and Professional Development Center (CPDC), we believe that fostering career readiness extends throughout the university, encompassing classroom experiences and professional opportunities that help students develop these core skills. Faculty and staff play a crucial role in this journey.
Through the support and resources provided by the Career and Professional Development Center, you can become a “Career Champion” for your students. Help them access a variety of career readiness resources—including online learning, career-ready academies, interview strategies, resume writing, events, internships, and job postings—to set them up for lasting professional success.
Support students in achieving their career goals today by utilizing the resources available at the Career and Professional Development Center.
Career Readiness Competencies
The Career and Professional Development Center (CPDC) is dedicated to preparing our students for professional success. We align our efforts with the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) eight career readiness competencies to provide a professionally focused experience that complements a student’s classroom instruction.
Encourage Student Engagement
Students are often compelled to take action following an email, class or discussion with a trusted professor, advisor or staff member. By partnering with the Career and Professional Development Center and highlighting the significance of career readiness and early professional development, you can make a significant difference in their future success.
Online Career Readiness Resources
The Career and Professional Development Center has a variety of online resources available to all students to help them get “Career Ready”.
The resources are designed to assist students in:
-
exploring various career paths
-
identifying suitable job and internship opportunities,
-
crafting a professional resume
-
honing essential skills such as networking and interview skills
-
participating in virtual work experience programs
By leveraging these resources effectively, students can enhance their career readiness and improve their chances of launching a meaningful career. Each component plays a vital role in preparing them for a successful career journey.
