Military Bike Ride - Take a Bite of the Montour Trail
9:00 AM
Our bicycle rides are a great way to explore Western Pennsylvania and beyond. The rides are hosted by Leo McCarthy, Army veteran and retired Moon Township police chief. Leo works hard to plan our rides, peppering them with an ounce of fun and a dash of history.
The rides are social in nature and limited to a small group of 15 riders. We take our time and enjoy the camaraderie. These rides are for veterans and currently serving military and a buddy over 18 years of age.
This month, we invite you to join us for a 20-mile round trip tour on the Montour Trail. We will start at the Bugay Lane Trailhead in Findlay Township, just minutes from the Pittsburgh Airport. We will pass over the half-mile-long McDonald Viaduct with picturesque elevated views of the valley, under the new Southern Beltway Turnpike and cross the bridge at the Quicksilver golf course. Portions of the trail run along an active railroad with a fence separation. Be on the lookout for deer, turtles, and other various wildlife.
Interested riders are welcome to join us for lunch afterward, at their own expense.
