The Olsen Family Basement, situated in the Nicholson Center, has been reimagined as a dynamic, multipurpose area. This space, dedicated to the memory of Olsen’s grandparents, Elsie and Clarence (C.W.) Olsen, is designed to be a central gathering place for students, featuring cozy furniture, TVs, pool and ping pong tables, a stage, amenities for commuter students, a conference room, and more. The dedication plaque outside the basement honors Elsie and Clarence Olsen, celebrating their principled values and the lasting impact they made on their family and community.

Olsen Hall, RMU's largest lecture hall, is a pivotal space in the academic journey of almost every RMU student. This dedication reflects Russ Olsen's devotion to the academic experience at RMU.

In addition to these new spaces, Russ Olsen has a long history of supporting RMU in various capacities. His contributions include significant scholarship funding, robust support for RMU athletics, and a multi-million-dollar pledge that led to the naming of the RMU Elaine Boyd Library in honor of his stepmother.

"Russ’s remarkable generosity continues to play a transformative role in the lives of our students and the entire RMU community," said RMU President Michelle Patrick. “His unwavering commitment to RMU, from academic resources to athletics and beyond, truly embodies the spirit of giving back and sets an inspiring example. We are deeply grateful for his continued support and proud to see his legacy flourish on our campus."

Russ Olsen graduated from Robert Morris in 1982 with a degree in Management and has over 41 years of experience in executive management, sales, and marketing. He gained much of his executive management experience while holding senior positions in marketing, business development, and sales for Fortune 500 companies.

Russ concluded his successful career in healthcare as Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Triad Life Sciences Inc., which pioneered a novel, groundbreaking technology platform to help patients recover from debilitating, traumatic wound conditions so that they can live a more complete and full life.
