The Certificate of Foreign Service and Diplomacy is designed to prepare students for public service at the State Department. This interdisciplinary certificate includes courses that teach the needed geopolitical and post cold war foreign policy knowledge to students as well as provide information about the various tracks and application process for the foreign service. Students will learn about foreign policy decision-making and about new tools and technology impacting foreign service today.

Course Requirements

Students are required to take the following courses:

  • GEOG1020 - World Geography
  • POLS2000 - Diplomacy and Foreign Service
  • HIST3680 – Modern Russia and the USSR
  • POLS3040 - U.S. Foreign Policy
