“We met during our first semester of our freshman year. We were sitting in Sociology class in Hale when a stink bug was crawling up my chair. I couldn’t focus on anything but that stink bug! Erik, a complete stranger to me, went to Starbucks and grabbed a napkin to kill the stink bug for me. Not much happened then, until Erik learned from a mutual acquaintance that the girl he killed the stink bug for lived in the Ross Hall ‘apartment’ that had a stove (a very hot commodity)! He messaged me online and we became friends. In April, I finally said yes to making things official. We dated through the rest of our time at RMU. We also maintained a long distance relationship for 4 years. On April 15, 2017 (our 6th anniversary), Erik proposed and on October 20, 2018, we got married at St. Sebastian Catholic Church in the North Hills. The most amazing part of the wedding was a certain wedding guest that joined us at the altar... a stink bug, who hung out with us through the vows. Almost 10 years later, we’re building our dream home in Gibsonia, have an adorable boxer puppy named Stubbs, and are hoping to soon expand our family. We still remain grateful for that sociology class, RMU, and that stink bug!”
