Colonial Cupboard Student Food Pantry

About the Pantry

The university is pleased to offer this resource to our students.  The Colonial Cupboard is located on the 2nd floor of the Nicholson Center (Room 277).  The pantry is designed to meet the immediate food needs for all of our currently registered students.  All undergraduate and graduate students are welcome to use the pantry as we know that food insecurity can impact the ability of our students to achieve their academic, professional, and personal goals.

Robert Morris University and the Colonial Cupboard are members of the College and University Food Bank Alliance and is recognized as a Hunger-Free Campus by the PA Department of Education. For more information about the pantry, please contact us at deanofstudents@rmu.edu.  The Pantry is available by Appointment. Please contact fraziert@rmu.edu to make an appointment.

How to Donate

The pantry welcomes donations of non-perishable food items.  Arrangements can be made to accommodate limited donations of perishable items, fresh fruits and vegetables.  The pantry can accommodate items that must be refrigerated or frozen.

Favorite items include:

  • Soups

  • Peanut butter and Jelly
  • Canned vegetables and fruit cups
  • Packaged items such as instant potatoes, rice, pasta, and macaroni and cheese

We also have a section of the pantry for basic necessities and personal care items.  Soap, toilet paper, tissues, toothpaste, feminine hygiene products, cleaning supplies, and laundry soap are much appreciated by our students.

Colonial Gardens

The Colonial Gardens were established in the summer of 2024 with funding from the PA Hunger-Free Campus grant. The purpose of the gardens is to provide fresh produce to RMU’s students via the Colonial Cupboard. The Gardens are supported through volunteer efforts and are located in the back of the Wheatley Center.

If you are interested in volunteering at the Gardens, please contact Tracy Frazier, fraziert@rmu.edu or 412-397-5241.
