Today’s healthcare environment includes challenges in many areas---decreasing reimbursement, new patient-centered initiatives, increasing costs, health professional burnout, and turnover—issues of clinical quality and patient safety take on even greater importance than ever.

Psychology B.S. (Sport Psychology)

The sport psychology concentration focuses on the mental side of sport and exercise, applying principles of psychology to improve athletic and exercise performance. Students explore how psychological factors affect sport performance and how engaging in sport and exercise impacts a person’s physical health and psychological well-being. The focus is on developing mental skills that improve performance and on assisting athletes struggling with a variety of mental health issues, including performance anxiety, injury, depression, eating disorders, and substance abuse.

Psychology B.S. (Clinical Psychology)

Interested in working in mental health? The B.S. in Psychology, Clinical Psychology concentration, exposes students to the different pathways to becoming a mental health professional. In addition to building a foundation in psychology, students in the clinical concentration take coursework to prepare them for graduate training in a counseling-related field. Students in this concentration practice their counseling skills through simulation at RMU’s RISE Center, learn about different assessment measures, and visit on-site with some of our clinical partners.

Master Science Health Administration (MHA)

The Master Science Health Administration (MHA) degree positions graduates for upper-level management opportunities in the expanding healthcare industry. Tremendous changes underway in healthcare delivery demand trained administrators and managers who understand how to achieve cost-effective care through process improvement and a focus on improving overall wellness. Hospitals, insurers, and other care providers all have to do more with less, and they need managers who understand the new models.

Counseling Psychology M.S.

The M.S. in Counseling Psychology is a two-year cohort program that provides a foundation in counseling skills, assessment, and individual and group therapy. It offers students the opportunity to gain supervised practical experience in a formal practicum and internship, while also benefiting from an engaged faculty. Our faculty 'do' what they teach!

Psychology B.S. (General Psychology)

The B.S. in Psychology with a General Psychology concentration provides students with an examination of many of the diverse subfields within the discipline. Students who choose this path can work with faculty mentors to tailor their studies to best meet their academic and career needs. Some students may take a broad array of psychology courses while others may focus on a secondary area of interest such as forensic psychology, child psychology, or industrial- organizational psychology.
