“I take great pride in being an alum. I want to see RMU be successful, and if my donations can be a small part of them moving forward in their mission, then I’m all for that.”
A legacy student whose mom was an alum, Michael Jandrasits ‘09 picked RMU because its sport management program could help him build a career combining business with his passion for sports. And it has — after working in minor league baseball and then for Pitt athletics, he now is an accountant for Dick’s Sporting Goods, working on facilities budgets and forecasting for the 800+ locations of the sporting goods chain.
As a scholarship recipient, Michael contributes to an endowed scholarship honoring his professor, David Synowka. And of course, as a devoted Colonials fan, he also is a member of the 1921 Club.
Michael says he can count the number of men’s basketball home games he missed before the pandemic on one hand, and now he is counting the days until crowds return to the Peoples Court at UPMC Events Center. The feeling of community means a lot to him, and he already has seats reserved — for himself, his wife, their son, plus his mom and dad and sister, and some friends too.
