RMU Traditions
Creating BobbyMOments since 1921.
Throughout your time on our campus, you will be part of many campus traditions. These engaging events provide you with a chance to make life-long memories that you will share with your friends for years to come. From cheering at basketball games, to dancing the night away at Homecoming, to applauding the performers on the Massey stage, these RMU traditions are some of the best parts of your time on our campus
BobbyMania
Established in 2009, BobbyMania is the most popular event of the year. The university’s night time spectacular starts each academic year off with a BANG! The upperclassmen throw this massive party on the Nicholson Center lawn to welcome new students into the Robert Morris family!
BobbyMania is a chance to reconnect with friends, don your Colonial Colors, and make the most of the RMU experience.
Greek Week/AirBand
Greek week is a bonding experience like no other on RMU campus. All of our sororities and fraternities come together in friendly competition at the end of the school year, to crown a new Greek Week champion. Throughout the week there are various events that lead to the end of the week event, AirBand. AirBand has been a tradition at RMU for many years, and is always a crowd favorite for the week of events. Sororities and fraternities come up with themes for their showcasing to lip sync and dance along to, while their fellow classmates and faculty and staff come together to watch their performances.
Homecoming
Over 1,000 students dance the night away at our semi-formal gala.
The next day, Tailgate Alley is packed with students and young alumni for the Colonials football game. At halftime, we crown our King and Queen.
Connect with classmates, families, faculty and staff, and make more memories on our beautiful campus.
Breakfast After Midnight
Every year hundreds of RMU students celebrate the end of the academic semester together. They take a break from studying for finals and refuel with pancakes, eggs, and bacon. The RMU Jazz Band provides the music and students can win great prizes too.
Move-In Day
Move-in day is fueled by all the friendly faces of our volunteer student body as they roll up their sleeves to welcome our first year students. When the work is done, everyone gets to take a break together with food and fun offered at our gazebo
Meet the Colonials
The annual basketball tip-off celebration introduces the superstars of the men’s and women’s basketball teams! Fans are treated to free food and a free t-shirt as they witness the electrifying theatrical entrances for each player. Students get to shoot with the teams, and some lucky student gets to try a half court shot to win money from the coaches.
Sled Riding
The rolling hills of our beautiful Moon Township campus are more than just picturesque - they provide an excellent calf workout for all students as they walk to class, a rewarding challenge to runners, and amazing opportunities for sledding.
Fife and Drum
Ceremonies on our campus march to the beat of the Colonial Fife and Drum Corps. These musicians in Revolutionary War costume mark the beginning of significant moment’s our students' lives, playing Yankee Doodle as they march into our Matriculation and Commencement ceremonies.
Senior Brunch
The week between final undergraduate classes and commencement ceremony is a huge celebration. It's highlighted by the Senior Brunch, where graduating seniors join the university president for a delicious brunch, and a champagne toast. Cheers to memories made and lives changed!

This post-Thanksgiving tradition features free coffee, hot chocolate, seasonal treats, and live performance from the band and choir, plus John Tucci.
Theatre Productions
Since 1967, Robert Morris has been the home of high quality theatrical productions. It was the first extracurricular activity on the Moon Campus, housed in the Kaufmann estate's former barn. The vibrant theatre program features performers from across the entire academic community - 2019’s "The Addams Family" featured a cast of 30 students, representing 17 different majors.
Flag Football
Hundreds of men and women participate in intramural sports, one of RMU’s most popular activities, for a chance to win the coveted champions t-shirt. Flag football is the most popular intramural sport on campus, fielding over 40 teams each year.
