Educators need to be dynamic communicators with a passion to make a difference. RMU’s Department of Education strives to produce highly effective teachers, specialists, and administrators who can make a positive impact on their schools and their pupils. The department promotes student success through an innovative and challenging curriculum, discipline-based research, and actual practice.
Students follow the Teacher Education Progress Process for undergraduates, post-baccalaureate students, and transfer students. All programs meet the new certification requirements established by the Pennsylvania Department of Education, and are currently nationally accredited by the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (2020-2027). Additionally, programs with national specialty accreditation include the B. S. in Early Childhood Education at Robert Morris University is accredited by the Commission on the Accreditation of Early Childhood Higher Education Programs of the National Association for the Education of Young Children (September 2021-September 2023), and Master of Science in Literacy is accredited by the International Dyslexia Association.
