SFASRPO is the Banner page used by advisors and other employees with permission to override restrictions a student may encounter when attempting to register for a class. This Banner form allows you to issue a "permit" to students, allowing them to register for course sections that are restricted and/or closed. If the student has already registered, their schedule will be displayed on this screen. This is the Banner form used to waive prerequisites and corequisites.
Examples:
- Student does not meet the Prerequisite(s) or Corequisite(s) for the class
- Student does not have the appropriate Major for the class
- The class is full (at capacity)
- The class requires Special Approval
Enter SFASRPO into the field on the Banner "AppNav" home page and either click the screen name when displayed, or press 'Enter'.
1. Enter the Banner student ID (ex. R00123456), enter the appropriate 'Term' and click 'Go' (right side of screen).
Hint: if you click once in the ID field, then press the Tab button, you can enter the student's last name, first name then Tab again and the information will be populated. Enter the appropriate Term, then click 'Go'.
If you do not know the student ID (ex. R00123456), click the 3 dots (...) next to the ID field. This will display a method to search by person (example below).
Enter the search criteria such as last name, first name, etc. You can use wildcards to search (ex. Morr%). When ready, click the 'Go' button on the right of the screen. The search results will be displayed in a screen similar to the example below:
Locate the row in the search results of the student you wish to view. You may see multiple rows for a given student with an ID that does not begin with 'R', select the row with the ID that begins with 'R'. To select, double-click the ID of the appropriate student (or click once to select the student and click 'Select' on the bottom right of the screen), and you will be returned to the main SFASRPO screen. From SFASRPO, enter the appropriate Term and click 'Go' (upper right).
2. To Add a permit, click the [+] Insert option on the right side of this screen. A new blank line will be displayed in the "Student Permits and Overrides" block, mouse click into the back "permit" field. Then click the 3 dots (...) to display the Permit Override Code choices.
3. Click the appropriate permit-override code, and click OK.
- A permit may be issued for a specific section.
- A permit may be issued for a course, allowing the student to register for any section of the course in the given term.
Permits do not expire for a given term, and a best practice is not to overwrite an existing "permit", always add a new permit into a black permit field via use of [+] Insert.
- If a permit is applicable to all sections of a course, only the permit type, subject and course number should be entered.
- If a permit is issue for a specific section, the CRN and section number are required. The subject, course and section fields will be automatically populated when the CRN is entered.
- Multiple permits may be issued for the same CRN or course subject.
4. Click the 'Save' button on the bottom right of the screen (example below):
Modifying a Permit:
Permits can be modified An example would be if a permit was issued for a section that has been canceled, or a student wants to register for a different section of a course. To make the permit applicable to a different course section, click to remove the CRN, modify the section number and click 'Save' (bottom right).
A permit can be removed. From this screen, choose the permit to be removed by selecting the appropriate row (mouse click). The record will be highlighted.
- Select [-] Delete from the bar (top right).
- Click the 'Save' button to save the change (bottom right).
